Welcome to MackiMakes!
We believe that art should be created in a safe, non-judgmental, and low-pressure space. Art is not just one thing, it is hundreds and thousands of ideas, conversations, and challenges. We believe art has the power to connect people and build meaningful community.

In our art studio, we support our fellow artists, play hard, and laugh loudly. We make big messes, and help clean them up. We sprinkle glitter and kindness wherever we go, celebrate each other’s differences, and encourage brave ideas and wild imaginations. We believe in fairies, dragons, and all things magical. We try new things and aren’t afraid to make mistakes.

In our community, artists learn from one another and cheer each other on.
The lessons we offer are stepping stones, guiding the creative mind and helping ideas flourish in a supportive environment. Our goal is to help you find success by discovering joy in playing, creating, and making a mess.
We have epic dance parties. We make the world brighter with our creativity. And most importantly, everyone belongs here.
We are artists… we have big hearts and crazy ideas!

About our Studio
MackiMakes Art Studio began in the summer of 2022,
when Mackenzie hosted the studio’s first summer art
camps in the community room at the Nose Creek Valley
Museum. Through these camps, she recognized a growing
need for more creative opportunities for children and families
in Airdrie. Inspired by the enthusiasm of her students and the support of parents, Mackenzie set out to create a welcoming art hub where creativity could flourish year-round. Over the following months, classes were offered at the museum and various locations throughout the community while Mackenzie searched for the perfect permanent space. Building her business from the ground up, she was eventually given the opportunity to host classes in the Shepherd family’s charming farmhouse on their acreage.

In 2023, MackiMakes Art Studio officially established its home and began offering regular art classes, workshops, programs, and summer camps from its dedicated studio space. Since then, the studio has grown into a vibrant creative community where artists of all ages can learn, explore, and express themselves. Mackenzie’s dedication to arts education has been recognized throughout the community.
In 2026, she was nominated by members of the Airdrie community and was honoured with the Mayor’s Night of the Arts Educator Award. The studio has also been recognized through Airdrie CommunityVotes, receiving Platinum and Gold awards over the past five years for its commitment to quality arts programming and community engagement.
Today, MackiMakes Art Studio continues to inspire creativity, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love of art in Airdrie and the surrounding area.
