The past few weeks have been crazy and exciting! The academy has progressed into our personal passion projects. For the next four weeks we will be finishing our projects and presenting them through popup galleries and shows! For the longest time I've had a huge project in mind for myself. Before the past two weeks I had only thought my project would be for when I was older. I want to create and publish a children's picture book using bright elaborate colour schemes to catch the child's attention, because not every child is interested when being read too. In the past two weeks I have accomplished five finished pages out of the thirty I need to create. Im on the right track and will spend more classes and some time at home to get those twenty five other pages completed, so I can begin to publish it. I have already written the story which explains through a metaphor that you can be whoever you want to become when you grow up and that you shouldn't let anybody stop you from getting that, job, profession, goal or career. The first six pages have all the same scene which can be tedious to create over and over again since I am using my Copic markers to colour the pages. I am pushing through with my efforts and creating the backgrounds with as much care as I did in the first page. I cannot wait to show my final book and read it to the children I babysit in the next coming weeks! -Mackenzie Cox
