I am excited to announce that book two is underway! I am also excited to announce that book two is titled, "What Makes Me Special?". I cannot wait to get started on my illustrations and share my progress. This children's book has different themes, characters and a new setting! Icy Arctic plains along with a polar bear, penguin and a narwhal. The book will be exploring the concepts of identity as did the last but instead of learning what you want to achieve when you grow up the characters will learn what each individual traits and skills are unique about them. I am planning to incorporate watercolours into this book this time and i'm eager to see the results contrasting with the colourful animals. Since going through the process of publishing and editing I can say I have learned a lot and now will remember what to keep in mind for this book. I am going to pay more attention to where the blocks of text will be placed on the illustrations and leave space for them. This past week I have been planning in my sketchbook the illustrations blueprints and have provided photos below of some of them. This next week I will be testing what grade and quality of paper I would like to use and is best for this project. I will also be starting to draw out the first couple rough drafts of illustrations. My goal with this book is use what I have learned in the past two years and apply it to this project to show that I have improved and my understanding of the publishing world has increased.
