One of the most exciting steps of publishing is seeing it all come together! This past week I have been working with my dad to finish the cover and put the words to the pages. (Thanks dad!) I have learned so much about this process since my first book and I am very happy to apply what I know so I can get the results I want. With my first book I did not plan to make room for the words on my illustrations as I planned to put the text on a blank page adjacent to the drawings. In the end we realized that that would be very costly printing wise and that it would make more sense economically to put the words on the page in white boxes. This time around I have learned to make a space for the text and how to format my book properly to fit the standards for publishing. Including, adding a bleed line, double checking every word, making sure there are no edges cut off etc. We have completed the books editing and formatting phase! When we finished the cover I was so excited, I posted an announcement the second I could! I chose a lovely teal blue as the blank space on the cover this time! I wasn't finding the colour I wanted on the little colour wheel in Photoshop and ended up using a colour matching app on the handle of one of my moms craft drills! It was the perfect colour! I can't show much and spoil the book but I can share my books cover! "What Makes Me Special?" is coming very soon and I cannot wait to share with you all!
