The past two weeks have been exciting and work filled! I have successfully completed illustrations, one through 4 and I am happy to share them with you all! The challenge has so far been the water colour and keeping the paint from spilling into the line work. It has been a good challenge for me as well to wait for paint to dry before continuing as I love to work quickly and run out of patience when excited over a project. I have so far been able to contain myself and be patient. I have experimented in my sketchbook what colours I will be using in both copics and watercolour and where they will be placed. I have also planned out where the text in my book will be put upon the illustrations, as in my last book I had originally planned that the writing would be placed on a separate page from the drawings. This ended up being not the case and I have had since needed to place my writing on top of those drawings with a translucent box beneath that. It tends to be very distracting and I am accepting the challenges and solutions made in order to meet publishing demands and costs. Learning from my last book and knowing the entire process of writing, illustrating and publishing I am able to find solutions before meeting the challenges later on. This makes the process easier and let the end product come out how I envision it to. This week I have been learning about the marketing and advertising world of my first book. The book has kinda sprouted legs and is on its own now! People are buying it and I have been able to aquire a time and date for a book signing and will be announcing that information shortly! Its exciting to see it grow and expand into the world in quantity and appreciation. I have been meeting knew people through it and gaining new experiences because of conversation involving it. Not what I intended originally but I am happy with the outcome!
